SAFETY CIRCLE GROUP
Catholic Family Services of the Battlefords is offering the Children Exposed to Violence Program. Children who are exposed to violence are likely to suffer immediate and long-term problems. Group programming lets children know that they are not alone in their experiences. Children explore alternatives to violence, learn responsibility for violence and have their feelings validated through crafts, games, story telling and more. Individual counselling is also available. Please call Catholic Family Services at
445-6960 to register or if you would like more information.

School Threshing

Admission for pre-booked students $3.00 per child.

Schools and Families join us and create a unique scarecrow gallery!

On September 17th between 10:30 a.m.- 12:30pm the WDM invite families & businesses to bring some clothes for your scarecrow and come stuff it in celebrating our harvest season! We will supply the straw and will put them up for you to add scarecrows to our gallery along our main street 1920's village! Bring some decorations and make your own scarecrow the best of all! Find out who is the favorite when we count the peoples choice award on Friday; announcement made after the threshing program!

Our threshing demonstrations are designed so students and families will have an opportunity to lean what threshing is and the importance of grain growing was and is in the development of the prairies. All present can lean the threshing methods from the sickle/scythe to modern day, and can see the evolution of man power- horse power- steam power-gas power. Students & Families can lean the harvesting process from cutting grain to transporting it for sale. Students and Families are exposted to the actual working processes of the threshing experience-perhaps developing more of an appreciation of another aspect of our heritage on the prairies.
